In honor of Brain Injury Awareness Month, NeuLife expands Supported Living Program.

neulife-supported-living-programMOUNT DORA, FL, March 1, 2017– As an industry leader in brain injury rehabilitation, NeuLife brain injury facility is dedicated to raising awareness of traumatic brain injury (TBI). This year, NeuLife celebrates Brain Injury Awareness Month by announcing the expansion of their Supported Living Program, as part of an expanded service offering.

According to the Brain Injury Association of America, nearly 1.7 million people sustain a brain injury in America each year. While most people who experience a brain injury are able to return to their daily lives, at least 125,000 are left permanently disabled as a result of their TBI. The Supported Living Program at NeuLife is a temporary (respite care) option or a permanent living solution for patients with brain and other neurologic injuries who aren’t able to safely return home.

“While the effects of a brain injury may not be physically apparent, they are continuously challenging the individual and family unit,” said Lydia Hendrix, COO at NeuLife. “Often times, despite best efforts, brain injured individuals are unable to safely live alone or have the necessary 24/7 care and support. Our supported living program is designed to ease those challenges and provide each patient with the tools and opportunities to live a fulfilling and independent life.”

Their supported living program is an alternative within the post-acute phase of recovery that applies “real life” environments uniquely designed to promote independent living skills and maximize self-reliance. The daily routines provide a sense of security and familiarity which can help individuals who have had repeated difficulties functioning in various environments.

Accreditation awarded by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)

Carf Accreditation

MOUNT DORA, FL, January 4, 2017– NeuLife Rehabilitation is proud to announce that they have received three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). NeuLife was surveyed in November 2016, and awarded accreditation for their Residential Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Rehab Programs.

“This achievement is a reflection of our dedication and commitment to providing the highest quality of care to the patients we serve,” said Robert Bunker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NeuLife. “I’m incredibly proud of our interdisciplinary team of clinicians and administrators. We strive to provide exceptional rehabilitation for patients that have experienced a catastrophic injury through our Post-Acute Neuro and Spinal Rehabilitation Programs.”

CARF accreditation is an internationally recognized benchmark indicator of quality services in the rehabilitation industry. This three-year renewable accreditation serves as a validation of NeuLife’s dedication to its patients by continually improving services, implementing state-of-the-art technologies and adherence to strict quality and safety standards.

“CARF accreditation is the “gold seal” of rehabilitation practice, and this achievement is a reflection of the proven outcomes we’re continuously achieving through evidence-based practice,” said Lydia Hendrix, RN, BSN, MS, CRRN, Chief Operating Officer of NeuLife. “In order to receive accreditation, facilities are evaluated against rigorous criteria. NeuLife met and exceeded the strict standards of performance.”

Accreditation is awarded following thorough internal examination and an on-site inspection conducted by expert practitioners selected by CARF. During the survey, the provider must demonstrate compliance to a series of rigorous and internationally recognized CARF standards. Following approval of CARF accreditation, NeuLife must report ongoing improvements to programs and services as evidence of continual improvement.

Mount Dora, FL, May 26, 2016– Since opening its doors on September 5, 2013, NeuLife Rehabilitation has remained dedicated to providing expert rehabilitation to meet the unique needs of catastrophically injured patients. By empowering people to achieve their highest level of recovery and independence, NeuLife Rehabilitation focuses on reintegrating patients back into the community.

The 60,000 square foot NeuLife facility is situated on 43 acres in the heart of Central Florida, just 35 minutes from downtown Orlando.

In 2016 alone, NeuLife admissions are nearly equivalent to all prior admissions for the first two years of operation combined. Virtually all growth measures are up and to the right. NeuLife expects to finish 2016 shattering records and is well positioned and prepared for future growth and expansion thereafter. Although catastrophic injuries make up a relatively small percentage of overall hospitalizations, the nature of these cases require clinical expertise and oversight while assuring both patients and their families are equipped with the knowledge and advocacy skills necessary to navigate through a lifetime. Examples of catastrophic injuries are brain and spinal cord injuries, multiple traumas, orthopedic injuries or amputations, debilitating strokes, severe burns and other complex diagnoses. NeuLife serves these diagnoses and beyond.

“NeuLife’s outcomes are a testament to the expert team and collaborative approach required to care for these types of cases” said Lydia Hendrix, COO of NeuLife Rehabilitation. “As a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse with more than 25 years of experience in this field, I have seen far too many catastrophically injured patients fail in our traditional care continuum model. Healthcare reform and external pressures often leave the patient and family behind. We are challenging the status-quo of the post-acute rehabilitative care continuum– and it’s working.”

NeuLife customizes care plans and treatments to facilitate significant functional and cognitive gains. Greater than 90% of patients admitted to NeuLife Rehabilitation are discharged home and successfully reintegrated into the community.

“NeuLife Rehabilitation’s strategic goal is to be the post-acute rehabilitation provider of choice for catastrophically injured, complex care patients,” said Bob Bunker, Chairman and CEO of NeuLife Rehabilitation. “Our specialized services and emphasis community rehabilitation fills a critical gap in our care continuum. NeuLife is positioned for continued growth with planned expansion into markets around the country. Effectively treating these high-risk, catastrophically injured patients in the right setting for their individual needs will result in the best possible outcomes at the lowest cost.”
